Welcome to The Community Research Collaborative

On Sept. 1, 2004 University of Cincinnati President Nancy Zimpher and United Way of Greater Cincinnati President Robert Reifsnyder, signed an agreement establishing the Community Research Collaborative. The Collaborative provides the United Way with essential research capabilities and data that can be used to identify needs in the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, and the surrounding region.

With the merger of resources, the University of Cincinnati's renowned Institute for Policy Research and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati created the Community Research Collaborative, a resource that aims to better serve the region through more efficient data-analysis and research.

"The United Way is striving, with its many funded agencies, and other community partners, to inspire real change for the better in the greater Cincinnati region," said Reifsnyder in a Sept. 1 press release. "Accountability and quality are essential to this work. We must guarantee the best use of resources, identify opportunities to leverage the capabilities of the region and ensure that our contributors' investments are working smarter."

United Way reasoned that hiring new researchers was not the best plan to achieve these ends, so they turned to the university's Institute for Policy Research.

"When we made that decision, UC's Institute for Policy Research stood out as our clear choice," Reifsnyder said.

The Community Research Collaborative addresses regional social, behavioral, and health issues from a multi-disciplinary perspective by conducting research that provides an evidence-based foundation for public policy decision makers.
