The Community Research Collaborative and Research

The Community Research Collaborative (CRC) has been established as the research arm of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati to provide essential research capabilities that can be used to identify needs in the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, and the surrounding region. The CRC does this through collaboration, dissemination, and education.

Collaboration.
The UC Institute for Policy Research, which houses the CRC, is committed to providing the best research support possible for the United Way, and “bring to the table” regional researchers with the skill sets that best meet the needs of each research question posed by the United Way.

Dissemination.
The CRC also acts as a clearinghouse for research conducted by the many high quality researchers throughout the region. The CRC web site, in particular, is intended to act as a distribution point and repository for social research conducted in the region. By doing so, research that may have gotten limited distribution will be made more widely available.

Education.
Finally, the CRC is working to enhance the research capabilities of the United Way staff, by providing regular research methods seminars for the UWGC staff. The intent is not to make the UWGC staff trained researchers, but to give them the tools and skill necessary to critically review the many research reports, needs assessments, and program evaluations they receive from local government and community agencies.
